Taking a dip
After having done nothing on our first night in Phuket and being the second night here, we thought that we might venture out into town for some din din and a bit of look see.
After a quick call to my parents (they just got here today for the wedding...my mum has been ironing our clothes and my dad cleaning...ahh bless parents) we took the shuttle bus to Patong
The town itself is actually not so nice...the island itself - compared to Bali is not so nice...but ok we are Jakartans so it is a biased opinion. The stuff they sell at the shops are pretty much what you can get in an ITC or Bogor/Bandung and the sale keepers are aggressive and somewhat abusive. We had some dinner and went for a bit of a walk and my dearest found this fish shop. It looked like an ordinary aquarium shop with big tanks of fish placed on the floor. Basically these fish eat dead skin cells from your body like food, you choose how many hours you want your feet/arm/body and off you go.
It doesn't seem so scary right? only slightly creepy...hah. Marcel was convinced that it was something that I should try...and that he would go first. As soon as I saw this, only then it became more creepy and slightly scary. After some coaxing from Marcel and the two store keepers...half an hour later I dived right in. Marcel took a video footage of my reaction as I did it....he still watches it for laughs...I won't put it up here..it's kind of embarrassing.
This is me as I dipped my feet in. Look at the terrified look on my face...I'm telling Marcel to stop laughing at me and to turn the camera off!
This is me after 15 minutes...looking slightly weirded out but pleased with myself

Pre-wedding photos
Last week I called a photographer friend of mine asking whether he can do a photoshoot for our pre-weds. I guess he must have heard the desperation in my voice because this week he has scheduled us in to have one done! We are again on a full schedule this Saturday it seems. Having been up at 6:30 (seriously, I don't think I know anyone my age who gets up this early) and picking him up before making our way to Ancol.
I've always thought Ancol was like the Indonesian version of Disneyland...only the rides were hip in the 80's....and haven't been fixed since the 80's. But ok he is a professional so he must have done his research already with locations.
The result? Marcel loves them!...and that's a big thing...he never usually likes his photos
