So I'm hopping on a flight to Australia tonight and happily so. With all that crazy rainy weather in Jakarta and an even crazier macet on a Friday evening makes it all the more reason to leave a stressful Jakarta a little bit easier.
I did manage to find a taxi after half an hour of walking around in the rain to the nearest taxi stand. And after hesitating for a second to get into a beat up Taxiku, I happily climbed in after being in the wet and flooding roads. I told the driver that there is a 10k rupiah tip for him if he could get me to the airport as fast as he can and after not being able to get into the tol entrance I was pretty sure we wouldn't go over 20km an hour. I was wrong. We were in the airport in 35 minutes on a Friday night macet and in the rain. I think that was the best time yet by a taxi.

A treat
I was at Citos again today to take a little look see at the ladies market and boy was it packed. I think the Ramadhan month is making people want to buy even more now that they cannot indulge in dining during the day. I picked up this cute little necklace that was reasonably priced from a vendor. At first I thought that the colours might be a bit too much, but since alot of my casual clothes are quite plain I figured that it might be not such a dramatic piece to have.

"The locals here have a very strange relationship to time"
I've never really been a fan of line dancing but this morning certainly cemented the fact that I now absolutely detest it. We were woken up this morning...well, at 3am this morning to be exact, to a blaring music being pumped from several sub-woofers downstairs. We learnt that the marketing team of the apartment organised a line dancing event at 7am. Of course people would want to do line dancing at 7am in the morning, who wouldn't, but what's with the 3am wake-up call? To build hype!...momentum!...either that or they were being extremely well organised and wanted to do a soundcheck from 4 hours before the "event" (although I highly doubt it). Either way, as Marcel said.."The locals here have a very strange relationship to time" and I think he might be right.

Mirror boy
I received an sms today.
"Pool party at 3pm tomorrow"
Very cryptic. It could only be from Surya. He leaves tomorrow for his job in India. The tea plantation awaits. But before that we shared some great bbq, a game of mirror boy (for the boys) and some cool drinks on a Saturday night.
