We are in Bogor today, on a wet wet day. And in between shopping, upon requests from our guests, we popped into a local favourite hangout, Pia Apple Pie. This tiny cafe sits on top of a hill and makes some of the most delicious pies in town. Jakartans drive hours to buy in bulk and Bogor locals pop in for romantic dates.
One of the famous pies, this one is strawberry flavoured
Pisang bakar...lovely
Some local snacks made of sweet potatoes
The "special" tea was actually imported German tea! How ironic!

Tartare delight
We are at Die Stube tonight upon request, to watch the Dortmund match and have some dinner. As an appetizer, the crew ordered this beef tartare, something I've seen before (a friend of mine accidentally ordered this thinking it was fish with tartare sauce or something) but the thought of eating it disgusts me. Perhaps this is what other people think when they hear the words "beef tongue satay". Maybe I will try it one day...maybe.

Appetite
We were at the German embassy today to sort out some visa stuff and afterwards went to lunch on Senopati. I went here with a friend of mine and loved the food and atmosphere so I wanted to share it with the husband. He liked it too! This is a local hangout and on the weekends, is often filled with young, hip Jakartans chillin'.
I ordered this traditional Indonesian food, nasi kuning something.
The chicken tasted quite familiar, something I had before, perhaps when I was little but I have no idea what it was called.
The husband ordered some pasta

A well deserved brunch
If it's one thing Jakartans know best, it's brunch and they do it in style. We decided to treat ourselves before the husband jets off to soccer, before our guests come to Jakarta, before the crazyness begins. I think we will not have a brunch like this for a while.
They have a great brunch menu
Deciding what to order is always tough
The husband settled for some scrambled eggs...great presentation but it took them a bloody long time to stuff those empty egg shells with the scrambled eggs
I took the steak sandwich with sweet potatoes
Potato Head

Citos purchase
Another Citos purchase, my deer skull ring. The husband thinks its weird...and I suppose it is, but it's growing on me.

Brunch at AlamKulKul
Last day of breaky at AlamKulKul before heading out to Jakarta! We quickly paid for the husband's parent's accommodation as well for next month and off we went.
The girls at reception were complaining about the length of my hair. The last time they saw me was on our quick honeymoon trip and my hair was longer. It's nice that they remembered us and at the same time a little creepy that they noticed us but I am slowly getting used to strangers openly telling me their opinions about my appearance.

A lunch date
As the husband had a meeting in town, I thought I might hitch a ride there and have a lunch date with some lovely ladies. They just got back from a weekend trip to Singapore (they have never been out of Indonesia before) and seeing as I couldn't join, they wanted to tell me some stories they had. The main goal was to visit the newly built Universal studio but unfortunately most of the rides were still closed so to their disappointment, couldn't get in...but it didn't stop them from taking photos from outside the gates.
Their appointed tour guide (wearing the pink shawl) got them lost to the point where the only souvenirs they got were sore and blistering feet. I suggested that perhaps they were not so used to walking longer than 5 minutes so that was probably why their feet were hurting so much and they agreed that Jakarta had made them walking-impaired. It took us a while to order as it was nowhere near payday so everyone was skinned for cash and I felt kind of guilty for taking them out that I was going to suggest I paid for everyone but one of the programmers (the man on the right) ended up paying for all of us! Free lunch...awesomeness!

A quaint bedside table
For a while there we had one of our dining room chairs as our bedside table until we came across this one at Chick Mart in Kemang. We managed to get 15% off for it so we thought, well why not?

Anomali Coffee
A friend of mine thought that the husband would love this place seeing as he is a coffee lover and rightly so! The coffee tastes great! (according to the husband) and the place is quite cozy.
When we arrived, some of the staff were doing some coffee training which is rare to see (they really know their stuff), and for once there weren't 15 staff staring at you with nothing to do which is even rare to experience in Jakarta!
The husband ordered his freshly grounded and brewed coffee
...and we received a free packet of coffee beans, we chose this one
These are the types of coffee they have, but when you see it at a glance, it kind of looks like a description of the islands in Indonesia...and yes, I would describe Aceh as earthy and spicy.
My friend informed me that they are a specialised coffee place, not a food place -- and she was right. Their wi-fi connection is quite fast I am told, so perhaps this could be a new hang out for the husband when he needs to do some emails whilst on the road for the day.

JPC Kemang
Our lense is kaput (the autofocus doesn't work anymore so we went to JPC Kemang to see if they can fix it. Long story short, they couldn't(...well they could but for the same price as if we were to sell it) so we got a new lense...ooo it makes everything look so romantic! Whenever we drop by JPC the place is always packed! I mean, packed! If you are a camera collector or photography-obsessed then this place is worth checking out. They have some crazy lense collection as well as collector's cameras. I mean look at that camera in the middle, the Hermes collectors edition, there are only 200 of them made in the world and of all places, one of them is in this little shop in Jakarta!
