Windmills and day tours
Second day in Amsterdam and my parents are already bored. I can understand, they are coming from Indonesia and have only ever visited Jakarta and other bustling asian cities so compared to that Amsterdam is quite tame. I thought that booking them for a day tour would be the solution so at least they have something to do but my dad being a very old school Indonesian just wanted to do his own thing and completely ignored the time constraints, so when the tour guide told everyone that we had 20 minutes at a particular sight, he felt that it didn't apply to him. In the end I still think it's a good idea for the parental units to go on a day tour because at least the transportation and sights are taken care of and an itinerary is already laid out for the day so I would organise it again.

Clogs, cheese and tulips
After seeing the husband only one day my parents are off to Amsterdam for a little visit. The rain was something that we did not anticipate so we couldn't do so much but we did go for a little walk around the town.

India
The husband ventured out to see a bit of India today (very rare as he is normally cooped up in hotels when he is traveling somewhere for work) and he took some quick snaps to show me how the city looks...and to me, it's looking alot like the streets behind Tanah Abang (Jakarta) to be honest with you...ok minus the cow though.

Dinnertime in India
My parents are visiting (I picked them up from London) and they got here just in time for the husband to dash off to India for work. So while I get the parents settled, here are some pics of what the husband had for dinner tonight.

Portobello Market
As today was my last day in London we headed off to Portobello Market for a brunch and do a bit of last minute sightseeing. Portobello Market is a famous market in Notting Hill (the setting of one of my favourite movies) and sells mainly antiques and crafty bits and bobs. I spotted these antique potteries from Germany...not my cup of tea (especially the one with the two birds) but it was interesting to see (and yes they were expensive). Meanwhile a friend of mine spotted this fancy dog handbag - we were agonising whether to buy it or not but in the end, we left it for next time.

Raining, grey and cold
Today would have to be one of the worst weather this summer; raining, grey and cold. I got stuck at a retail store and had to wait until the rain settled (my raincoat was soaked) before I headed back.

London town
So I'm in old London town at the moment visiting a friend and I'm hoping the weather will stick but I think it's a little wishful thinking on my part. In the meantime I think I will enjoy a bit of Buckingham Palace and a little stroll through the park.

Bergerstraßenfest 2011
Ontop of unpacking and getting some more things for the apartment (like a washing machine) we have also had a few guests come and stay over. This weekend a friend of the husband was driving through for work and stayed with us overnight. The boys wanted to watch a bit of soccer so we headed off towards Bergerstr. and found that there was a street festival on.
