Winter fat
The husband made pan fried chicken and mushroom in creamy sauce with spaetzle. He says we need some winter-fat to get through the winter, now that's one custom I like!

always stick to paved roads
Such a nice view from this looking tower...only it wasn't a looking tower, it was someone's balcony. It took me a while to figure out that I pretty much broke into someone's house and hung around their second floor balcony...and it took me even longer to realise that I walked across snow deep enough to be able to reach someone's balcony on the second floor.
Hot tip for you: try and stick to the actual paved roads when you are at the snow, as soon as you step off it, you might be walking around on soft snow that is a couple of metres deep.

Hopfgarten here we come
On our way to the Alps once again for yet another ski trip. Not looking forward to be honest with you, I feel like I've been running on empty for a while and I feel that a strenuous weekend skiing will send me over the edge, but how many chances do you get to ski at the Alps? So I'm taking the beautiful sights in enjoying the moment.

"Aussie" wine?
I was perusing the isles of the supermarket today, just to get used to the supermarkets here and to pick up a few things and came across this "Wine of Australia"Shiraz. Not sure whether this was actually a type of wine from Australia - I'm pretty sure it's a German wine which they have marketed as coming from Australia because they seemed to have left out Tassie on the map there...hmm yah it's all about the details folks, all about the details.

Bring in the new year with a raclette
This year's new years was alot different than the quiet one we had last year and the one we had the year before on Belitung Island but it was no less a new experience. We had a Raclette night at the parents in law's - and I mean, a kilo of melted cheese and potatoes? noone can go wrong with that! It was more or less my first raclette experience but an experience that the husband went crazy for. About 20 odd years ago raclette was banned in his household when he came home one day and suggested to grill, not just cheese, but wursts and bacon and other such things. The smell was so strong that it left a stench on the furniture and curtains for months to come, and to this date, raclette was verboten in his household...until now. The husband convinced his parents to have one as a gesture towards me (as I have yet to experience it) so we enjoyed a raclette - strictly potatoes and onions and a look through the husband's baby pictures that I spent the last few days scanning and uploading onto my laptop. Happy new years!
