Loewy does not do a good brekky

We gave Loewy another chance at brekky but this time we paid for it...and we were a little disappointed. Aside from the great atmosphere and one of the only restaurants in Jakarta where the waiters don't continually interrupt you in mid-sentences or offer to take your plates away while you are still eating....or in the middle of a private moment we really wanted to give Loewy a chance to redeem itself. I ordered the same meal as last time and the truth is, the difference in the quality of food was quite noticeable. They had changed their beef bacon to something uneatable and their thawed out sausages were raw-ish and watery when cut through. I think we are going to have to find another breakfast place in Jakarta.

Spargelessen

My second Spargelessen experience in Jakarta and it was a great one. We had mostly new faces on our table but we anyway knew them previously. Its strange how some things can change dramatically in a year whilst some things stay exactly the same. We had a few people asking us what married life is like now, I guess we must be one of the current newlyweds on the scene and there are some curious couples out there, and truth be told my relationship with my husband has not really changed much despite being married but I definitely like having him as my husband rather than my boyfriend ;)

Loewy does brekky

We had these vouchers from a friend of mine inviting us to try Loewy's new breakfast menu. The voucher has been lying around on our dining table for a while so seeing as it is the start of a long weekend we thought we should give it a try.
And the verdict? Well location-wise, Loewy is such a nice restaurant, and you always have the option of eating outside which is a big thumbs up for us. The breakfast? it was ok, but for the price? err there are other places much worthy of our money for the quality of breakfast they dish out I mean, would you pay around 50,000rp for an assortment of bread, most of which you can find the exact same ones at Carrefour for 7,900rp? I think not. Would we come back again? we are loving the fact that we can sit out and enjoy the morning sun without the whole pollution thing but if it was purely for the food then perhaps not.

Paulaner comes to Jakarta

Last night was Paulaner's grand opening in Jakarta. We weren't invited (ahem ahem) but we were a little curious about it so we decided to take a little peek today after breakky. The inside was impressive, well the brewery anyway. The interior was nice but a little tough looking. All the dark furniture made the whole place look kinda dark all around during the day but maybe at night time the atmosphere is different.

We spotted a huge army tank parked right outside Paulaner before we came in and after asking some guys hanging around whether there was a war we weren't told about, the guys told us that a VIP was visiting the apartment building above Grand Indonesia and that the tank was on stand-by...some things still surprise us in Indonesia!

Let's Sushi-Tei it

We are loving Sushi Tei at the moment. In fact we are starting to go there on weekends for dinner or lunch. It's become a little on the obsessive side actually. I'm not sure why we never went here before as we are normally Sushigroove frequents. I guess I'm always a little turned off by the long queues, but as I recently discovered, Indonesians aren't the "lets have some good food and good conversation...and stay here a few hours" kind of people, they are more the..."lets have dinner quickly and go to a coffee shop for a few hours" type. So even if there is a queue of about 5-7 tables, we only wait a few minutes for our turn. And who doesn't love a good sushi train?

Lining up to go to the airport

A Sunday evening drive to the airport and you'd think there wouldn't be so much traffic...guess again. Thank goodness we went an hour early because it was really such a jam. Not the best way to spend the last day in Jakarta
