A little walk

Second day in Bandung and Marcel had this idea to visit the hot springs, some nature, fresh air - I wouldn't have minded doing some shopping and eating but hey, that's just me. We got there...and lo and behold, there was more macet

But it was a nice view anyway...
Yes that is Marcel's mobile phone in the corner...and yes he was working!

So Marcel had an idea to take a little walk down to the hot springs. Now I'm always a little skeptical whenever he mentions the words "a little walk" as it usually means a hike or a marathon of some description. In this case, it was a hike through the woods...a rather long one.
Finally we got there and had quite a relaxing time out
The walk up was excruciatingly painful, really, it was an uphil battle with the mud and debree from past landslides. Towards the end I was begging Marcel to carry me but he refused...I guess he will only do it in front of others tsk tsk tsk

behind the scenes

I haven't had a chance to write about what happened on our wedding day because i guess so many things happened that it was a bit of a blur really...mainly because it started at 5:00am and didn't end til 11:30pm. I'm not really ready to write about it just yet but looking over some of these pictures got me a little nostalgic.

...yes it really hurt

it took ages to put these flowers on!

This is probably Marcel's favourite part of the ceremony, where I have to bow down and hold his hand to my forehead...old tradition that Marcel likes to believe still exists

This is my love telling me how beautiful I look despite the infected eyes and me telling him to shut the heck up and that he doesn't know what he's talking about

Honeymooners

Our extremely short honeymoon to Bali was quite a delight, given the time frame (does forty eight hours count as short?) . But thanks to the lovely team at AlamKulKul (and an awesome suite with a private pool) we had an excellent time!

Yes that is my newlywed husband working...on our honeymoon! Can you believe it?

By the way how quirky are these!

Another spectacular sunset in Bali

Wedding day

So finally the moment has arrived. No rain in sight so the day was already perfect.
Here are some pictures...
Saying my vowels

This was a surreal moment. This is the moment my father asks if Marcel will have me. The room fell silent. He says that he accepts all responsibility for me and as he spoke the words the cameras start flashing and gasps and pleasant shrieks filled the mosque. I think everyone was slightly relieved!

Last days

The best thing about Phuket....the only good thing about Phuket...the beach. By far one of the most relaxing mini-trips in a while. The only thing we did was sleep, eat and tanned by the beach. It also helps that Phuket doesn't have much else to offer but the beach haha

Taking a dip

After having done nothing on our first night in Phuket and being the second night here, we thought that we might venture out into town for some din din and a bit of look see.

After a quick call to my parents (they just got here today for the wedding...my mum has been ironing our clothes and my dad cleaning...ahh bless parents) we took the shuttle bus to Patong

The town itself is actually not so nice...the island itself - compared to Bali is not so nice...but ok we are Jakartans so it is a biased opinion. The stuff they sell at the shops are pretty much what you can get in an ITC or Bogor/Bandung and the sale keepers are aggressive and somewhat abusive. We had some dinner and went for a bit of a walk and my dearest found this fish shop. It looked like an ordinary aquarium shop with big tanks of fish placed on the floor. Basically these fish eat dead skin cells from your body like food, you choose how many hours you want your feet/arm/body and off you go.

It doesn't seem so scary right? only slightly creepy...hah. Marcel was convinced that it was something that I should try...and that he would go first. As soon as I saw this, only then it became more creepy and slightly scary. After some coaxing from Marcel and the two store keepers...half an hour later I dived right in. Marcel took a video footage of my reaction as I did it....he still watches it for laughs...I won't put it up here..it's kind of embarrassing.

This is me as I dipped my feet in. Look at the terrified look on my face...I'm telling Marcel to stop laughing at me and to turn the camera off!

This is me after 15 minutes...looking slightly weirded out but pleased with myself
