Hometown
There's nothing like a breaky by the garden
We are spending the weekend in Marcel's birth-town to visit some relos and so far, today has been quite relaxing. We spent the arvo at a local country club where Marcel's aunty whipped us up a quick meal of chicken and mushroom with cream sauce. The name itself did not sound so quick and easy but like a true chef, she made it look effortless. It was delicious!
We spent the majority of the time enjoying the nature and some ducklings over tea and cake.

At last!
Finally we get to pick Marcel up from his training! I know it sounds awfully mushy of me but I have really missed him. Perhaps it is a newlywed thing but I am quite excited to be in Germany again with my husband.
On another note, check out this gigantic old castle Marcel was staying at. Stunning!

hackescher markt
...cute angels
...nice parking
...bookshop
We decided to take a bit of a wonder around Hackescher Markt to check out the scene. My friend and I are terrible with directions and for some reason we are always at the wrong part of a monument, an area, a building etc. The last time I was here it was with the inlaws and we saw plenty of cute arty shops, but this time we didn't see so much of that, I think we must have wandered in a residential area or something because we saw no shops at all.
We had lunch right across the street from where Marcel's parents and I had a coffee last week. We had a fairly German type of lunch due to some strong suggestions from the waiter who was coincidentally also trying to persuade me to have a rhubarb juice. When I flat out refused he made one for me anyway because he was convinced I would love it. He was wrong. Okay, partially wrong. It had a weird after-taste, weird enough for me to not order it again...wait, I never ordered it.

Well hello Berlin
A long time friend of mine came for a brief visit from London. We haven't physically seen each other for roughly about 2 years so she has been demoted from being a real life friend to an online friend.
This trip has been quite tricky to organise. We were so excited when we found out that we were going to be in the same continent at the same time for once that we presumed it would work out. Naive. I know. Turns out there were a few technicalities that ensued. She had just moved to London so things like: money, a job, a place to crash, you know, adult stuff kind of got in the way.
Gee, how did we become so adult all of a sudden?
...climbing the Berlin wall
...the Jewish memorial (I think)
...on the Museum Island

Home-made waffles
We are finally in Germany, but in different cities - minor detail. While the husband is away, I have been spoilt rotten with the inlaws. Yes, that is home-made waffles in the picture with fresh strawberries, sahne and cinnamon sugar. And yes, we did have it whilst watching the WeltMeister spiel. I've never had waffles before...ever, so this was quite a treat!

Local apotheke
Whilst my father in-law and I took a visit to town we found this old Apotheke that was closing. Turned out they were selling these old medicine bottles and other old pharmacy-like stuff because they were going to close it down or renovate it. Seems a shame to have it closed, it's such a quaint little store and in its original state which is something I rarely see in Jakarta.

macet macet
...car macet
...motorcycle macet
...people macet
We always joke around about how half of our relationship has been mostly spent in macet, but err I think it is somewhat true.

Last weekend before Germany
Our last weekend before Germany and we thought we would have a relaxing one. An afternoon spent at Relax Living certainly took the edge off what will be a busy week ahead.

Loewy does not do a good brekky
We gave Loewy another chance at brekky but this time we paid for it...and we were a little disappointed. Aside from the great atmosphere and one of the only restaurants in Jakarta where the waiters don't continually interrupt you in mid-sentences or offer to take your plates away while you are still eating....or in the middle of a private moment we really wanted to give Loewy a chance to redeem itself. I ordered the same meal as last time and the truth is, the difference in the quality of food was quite noticeable. They had changed their beef bacon to something uneatable and their thawed out sausages were raw-ish and watery when cut through. I think we are going to have to find another breakfast place in Jakarta.

Spargelessen
My second Spargelessen experience in Jakarta and it was a great one. We had mostly new faces on our table but we anyway knew them previously. Its strange how some things can change dramatically in a year whilst some things stay exactly the same. We had a few people asking us what married life is like now, I guess we must be one of the current newlyweds on the scene and there are some curious couples out there, and truth be told my relationship with my husband has not really changed much despite being married but I definitely like having him as my husband rather than my boyfriend ;)
